5 Travel Hacks to Ensure a Safe Staycation

Staycations are on the rise this year, and there’s a lot we’ve learned since March! At our Wembley hotel, we welcome all kinds of guests, including frequent flyers, backpackers, business stays and domestic holidays, so we’d say we’ve picked up some great tips from the travellers navigating the globe in the midst of this new (and slightly strange) normal.

Take a look at our top five travel hacks to make sure your staycation is as safe as possible.

Don’t despair, bring some spares!

Have you packed your sani-caddy? Great, now pack it again! In our previous blog, we talk all about making a sani-caddy - a bag containing your all-important safety goods, like a mask, hand sanitiser and gloves. It’s a great idea to have one with you day to day, but make sure you pack a couple of spares, just in case!

Mouth, face, eyes…Sanitise

We all have certain reflexes like blinking or breathing that make us touch our faces without even realising, so it’s important to sanitise regularly. By sanitising when you leave and enter any building, you’ll restrict the spread of a virus - as well as avoid the nagging voice in the back of your mind! How do we know about that voice? Because we all have one.

Be fair, don’t travel by air

When it comes to a holiday, most of us think ‘get me out of here!’, and the furthest destination is usually the best. This year, we urge you to discover your own back garden. Travelling by car is cheap right now, and also comes without the risk of getting quarantined on arrival. As a (huge) bonus, you can pack everything you need (including the kitchen sink) - so there’ll be no surprise charges on your luggage.

The best things come in small packages

Many tourist attractions, like museums and galleries, are implementing Coronavirus measures to make sure you get your culture fix as well as stay safe! So, why not opt for small group tours on your tourism itinerary? As well as staying safe, you get a more intimate and info-packed experience, all while social distancing!

Is that a thermometer in your pocket?

Our final tip is to bring a small thermometer with you on your stays. While it’s known the incubation period doesn’t really instigate high temperatures from the get-go, it can still provide a layer of peace of mind. Check your temperature before leaving your hotel room each day and if your temperature is indeed high, cancel your plans, inform the hotel staff and stay in your room.

Holiday Inn Wembley Reviews

Alenandre,

Saint Johnsbury, Vermont

I was really impressed and even surprised how great this hotel was. It is located next to Wembley and it is 5-7 minutes to walk from the subway station Wembley Park. Rooms are very clean, the bed was simply fantastic. The breakfast is far above traditional breakfasts in midrange price British hotels. I will definitely stay there again when I am going to be in London.

James,

Coatbridge

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. We were looking for decent hotel in London and although a wee bit outside the center of London, the rail/tube links to Wembley makes this hotel easily accessible to central London (30 min train journey). We booked executive room (£134) which was large, with great view of Wembley stadium. Service from staff was very good with food and drink reasonable for London.

Pauline,

Colchester

The welcome was friendly and helpful. Room on 3rd floor very clean and fresh. Twin beds as requested. Very comfortable. The temperature of room was constant with no stuffy feel.

Great choice for breakfast. This is hotel is good value for money considering location.

Deborah,

Miami Beach, Florida

This hotel was absolutely great. The food and everything far exceeded my expectations. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The staff were extraordinarily professional and provided excellent service. They were very accommodating and made my stay a very pleasant and rewarding one.

John,

Truro

Handy for train station and bus routes, and it had all amenities that you could reasonably require. The room itself was good and I slept well that night. I would gladly stay again.

David,

Tees Valley

Good value stopover with the city easily reached by the Metropolitan Line. Team here are always welcoming. Comfortable and clean room on the 9th floor and the air con much appreciated on a scorcher of a day outside.

Will,

Derbyshire

Wonderful hotel room, very good price, staff were lovely and friendly. Saying how busy it was after the summertime ball the staff were friendly and on hand to help. Would recommend to anyone who wants a place to stay visiting Wembley stadium.
